How It Works
Where our jobs come from, what we do with each posting, and how we pick the jobs that fit you.
Last reviewed: October 11, 2026
The short version
1. We read jobs straight from employers' own career sites.
2. We turn each posting into facts you can filter on: clearance, seniority, pay and more.
3. You tell us about yourself once, by answering a few questions or uploading a resume.
4. We score every open job against your profile and show the best ones, with the reasons.
Every job comes from the employer
Every 6 hours we read the job listings on the career sites of 137 employers, which run on 17 different applicant tracking systems. Today that is 3,249 open jobs (Huntsville, AL). We don't copy listings from other job boards.
Each posting's location is checked to keep jobs in the Huntsville, AL area (Huntsville, Madison, Decatur and Redstone Arsenal), and the same posting is stored once even when the employer's site lists it under several locations.
Each listing links to the employer's own application page, so you apply at the source. When the employer takes a job down, we mark it closed and it leaves search and matching.
Postings become facts you can filter on
Software reads each posting and records, where the posting says so:
- Security clearance: None, Public Trust, Secret, Top Secret and TS/SCI, and whether the employer will sponsor one
- Seniority: Intern, Entry Level, Mid Level, Senior, Lead, Principal, Manager, Director and Executive
- Employment type: full-time, part-time, contract and internship
- Work arrangement: onsite, hybrid or remote
- Salary range, when the employer posts one
- Skills the job requires and prefers
A language model reads the posting and our code checks and tidies what it returns. It can still get a detail wrong: the employer's posting is the authority, and the job page links to it.
Search that understands what you mean
Keyword search knows the other names of places and employers, so a search for a company's short name or a nearby town finds the same jobs. For a query of several words we also search by meaning, which finds relevant jobs that use different words from yours.
A job whose title, employer or location matches comes before one that matches by meaning, and that comes before one that matches only in its description.
Matching: one profile, every open job
Your profile comes from the Get Matched questions, your alert preferences and, if you upload one, your resume. After an upload you see what was read from it, and you can remove what is wrong or choose which of its values replace yours.
We score every open job on this site against your profile, not a sample. What counts, from the most weight to the least:
- How close the job's titles and skills are to yours overall, compared by meaning
- The skills the job requires
- Your clearance against the job's, counting jobs that will sponsor one
- The skills the job prefers
- Your years of experience against the job's
- Seniority level
- Your desired salary range against the posted pay
- Job title
Skills are compared by what they name, not how they are spelled, so an abbreviation and its long form count as the same skill.
Only jobs above a minimum score are shown, and each match says why it scored as it did. Marking a match “Not relevant” removes it from your matches and alerts, and we record it to improve the ranking.
Alerts
Turn on a daily or weekly email and we send you the new jobs that match your profile, scored by the same rules and the same minimum score as your matches on the site. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
What it costs and what we keep
Search, matching, alerts and resume upload are free for job seekers.
With an account we keep your profile (job titles, skills, clearance, experience, seniority, desired salary, preferred locations and alert settings). If you upload a resume we keep the file and what was read from it; its text is read by a language model at our AI provider. You and the site's administrators can see your profile and resume; employers and recruiters cannot. Deleting your resume removes the file and takes back out the skills and titles it added.
The privacy policy covers the rest, including how to ask us to delete your account.
Questions
- Do you apply for me?
- No. A job's Apply button opens the employer's own application page, and you apply there. We never send your details to an employer.
- Why is a job I saw elsewhere missing?
- We list jobs from the 137 employers whose career sites we read, and only postings located in the area this site covers. A new posting appears after our next read, within about 6 hours. Some employers' career sites can't be read automatically; their company pages link to their careers site instead.
- Why is a salary missing?
- Many employers don't post pay. We show a salary range only when the posting states one.
- How current are the listings?
- We read every employer's career site every 6 hours. A job the employer has taken down is marked closed on the next read and leaves search and matching.
- Which employers do you cover?
- 137 employers' career sites are read today. The companies page lists every employer with its open jobs. See the employers.
