Information We Collect

Rocket City Defense Jobs is a job aggregation platform. We collect minimal personal information:

  • Usage data: We collect anonymous usage data including pages visited, search queries, and referral sources to improve the site experience. This data is collected through standard web analytics and does not identify individual users.
  • Apply clicks: When you click a job's Apply button, we record the job, the employer, the time and how you reached the job, so we can tell employers how many people we send to their job listings. If you are signed in, the record is linked to your account. We do not store your IP address with it: to count repeat clicks once, we keep a one-way code made from your account, or else from your IP address and browser (a code that changes every day), which cannot be turned back into any of them. We share these figures with employers only as totals, never as individual records.
  • Session recordings: Our analytics provider, PostHog, records how pages are used (scrolling, clicks and page changes) so we can find and fix problems with the site. Form fields are masked in your browser before anything is sent, and so is all the text of your account pages (profile, resume, matches and alert settings), the Get Matched form and its results, the job posting form, and your email address wherever the site shows it. Other page text, including search terms shown on the results page, is recorded as it appears. Recordings are deleted after 30 days.
  • Contact form data: If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content to respond to your inquiry.
  • Waitlist sign-ups: If you join the waitlist for our AI assistant connector, we keep your email address, the assistant you named (if any), the page that brought you there, and your account if you were signed in. We use it only to tell you when the connector is ready and to decide what to build first, and we delete it on request. If you leave your address on our page for employers, we keep it with the company or agency you named (if any) and your account if you were signed in, use it only to tell you once when recruiter accounts open, and delete it on request.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We use essential cookies for site functionality and analytics cookies to understand site usage patterns.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Operate and improve the job aggregation platform
  • Respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form
  • Email you when a job you saved closes, with similar open jobs; the email's own link turns these emails off
  • Email you new jobs for a search you saved, daily or weekly, with or without an account (at most one email a day per site, covering all your saved searches there). We keep the email address, the search and which jobs we have emailed you for it, and send nothing until you confirm the address. The email's unsubscribe link, or deleting the search from your dashboard, deletes the search and its list of emailed jobs. A record of each email we sent (the address it went to and which searches it covered) is kept for 30 days, and a record of each confirmation email (the address) for 2 days, to avoid sending the same email twice and to limit how often anyone can ask us to email an address
  • Analyze site usage to improve search and navigation
  • Ensure site security and prevent abuse

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for basic site functionality. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve the experience. These collect anonymous, aggregated data.

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.

Third-Party Services

Our site may contain links to external job postings hosted by third-party employer career sites and applicant tracking systems. When you click on a job listing and are redirected to an employer's site, that site's privacy policy governs the collection and use of your data. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites.

We use Supabase for our database infrastructure and Vercel for hosting. These service providers process data on our behalf in accordance with their respective privacy policies and our data processing agreements.

One Account Across Our Sites

Rocket City Defense Jobs is one of a group of regional defense job sites run by the same team, alongside Space Coast Defense Jobs. The sites share one account system and one database. An account created on any of them signs in on all of them, and your profile, resume, saved jobs, followed companies and alert settings belong to that one account, whichever site you use. Your home region, which you can change in your alert settings, decides which site's jobs your alerts come from. A request to access, correct or delete your information covers every site.

Data Retention

Job posting data is retained as long as listings are active and for a reasonable period after expiration for historical reference. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months. Apply click records are kept for employer reporting; deleting your account removes the link between them and you. Analytics data is retained in aggregated, anonymous form indefinitely.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information below. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
