L3Harris makes solid rocket motor hardware in Huntsville. Its Advanced Manufacturing Facility-South (AMF-South) and Advanced Manufacturing Facility-North (AMF-North, opened in 2019) produce inert motor components such as nozzles, exit cones, aft closures and cases for programs including Standard Missile, GMLRS and Javelin, and the company says Huntsville supports more than half of its solid rocket motor programs. It also builds THAAD solid rocket boost motors in Huntsville, and in March 2026 it began high-volume production of VAMPIRE counter-drone systems there. In June 2026 the company put its Huntsville footprint at about 670,000 square feet across three sites.
