About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Requirements & Verification (R&V). The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and managing system requirements, architectures, and verification strategies to ensure system integrity and compliance with technical and operational needs. A solid understanding of hardware and software principles is essential for effective system-level engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead MBSE efforts, including development of system models, architectures, and design specifications using tools such as Cameo.
  • Develop and manage system requirements, ensuring full traceability from concept to verification using tools like Jama and Cameo.
  • Define and execute verification and validation (V&V) strategies, including test planning, requirements validation, and compliance verification.
  • Conduct system analyses, trade studies, and technical assessments to optimize performance and ensure design feasibility.
  • Support reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) considerations in system architecture and requirements development, including allocation of reliability requirements and coordination with hardware and test teams on failure reporting and corrective action.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system design aligns with overall mission requirements.
  • Utilize modeling and simulation to assess system performance and support design decisions.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation, reports, and reviews to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on MBSE and R&V.
  • Proficiency in MBSE tools, specifically Cameo.
  • Proficiency in using the System Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Experience with requirements management tools, specifically Jama.
  • Experience with test management tools, specifically TestRail.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, lifecycle processes, and verification methodologies.
  • Familiarity with hardware and software domains to inform system-level decision-making.
  • Experience in test methodologies, data analysis, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical concepts to stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Reliability engineering experience, including reliability predictions, MTBF/MTBCF analysis, FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, reliability block diagrams, derating analysis, and environmental stress screening.
  • Experience developing and allocating RAM requirements and defining the verification evidence needed to close them, including data collected through FRACAS or an equivalent failure reporting and corrective action process.
  • Familiarity with reliability standards and handbooks such as MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-1629, MIL-STD-785, or IEC 61508.
  • Experience working in DoD, aerospace, or highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of SysML v2, UML, and scripting languages for automation and analysis.
  • Experience with simulation tools and environments for system performance evaluation.
  • Understanding of safety and cybersecurity considerations in system design.
